In questo articolo viene ricostruito l’impegno educativo e sociale di Angela Zucconi che, negli anni del secondo dopoguerra, fu coinvolta dai coniugi Calogero nella direzione del Cepas (Centro di Educazione Professionale per Assistenti Sociali). In questo articolo viene indagata la cittadinanza attiva come competenza del docente della buona scuola, da un lato alla luce delle emergenze poste dall’attuale società plurale, dall’altro lato collegandola al tradizionale concetto di educazione civica. The aim of this paper is to present a historical reconstruction of the Italian debate in the second half of the twentieth century about the community as the destiny of education and school institution. This paper focuses on the figure of Franco Salvo, a teacher of history and philosophy at the classical high school Umberto I in Palermo from 1945 to 1981. He was a master of freedom rights who taught democratically and critically the civic education in a historical perspective. Salvo was a representative figure of the Sicilian school after the Second World War, a master of life. As his students recall, in the 1968 he supported the student movement, forming their consciences for a critical reflection, a responsible freedom, a social and political commitment.

Nuestro objetivo es realizar un análisis reflexivo sobre la forma en que el movimiento de la Escuela Nueva entiende la moral y su enseñanza, así como su particular vinculación con la educación cívica. Ofrecemos una síntesis de la investigación realizada sobre fuentes primarias de autores y órganos institucionales -no muy difundidos- de este movimiento. Con ello aclaramos el sentido y los modos por los que esta corriente pedagógica conforma, en el inicio del siglo XX, una nueva manera de concebir la práctica en esos ámbitos formativos; e identificamos las perspectivas de renovación metodológica que en ese momento emergen. In this paper, I will present the conceptual differences between civil disobedience and conscientious objection, which have been depicted by liberal authors such as J. Rawls, J. Raz and in Spain by M. Gascón Abellán. I will argue that conscientious objection, as a practice that is distinct from civil disobedience and rests on a right to “moral privacy”, finds his justification on a subjectivist ethics or on a voluntarist account of natural law.
